Official Carrier
Philippine Airlines is the national flag carrier of the Republic of the Philippines. Tagged as Asia’s first airline (first flight on March 15, 1941), PAL has a long and distinguished history in Philippine commercial aviation, spanning nearly seven decades. The continuing evolution and growth of the Republic is intertwined with PAL’s storied past, made manifest by the airline’s role to nation-building – that of linking the more than 7,100 islands that comprise the Philippine archipelago.
PAL operates a fleet of 39 new-generation, all-jet aircraft: Boeing 747-400s, B777-300ERs, Airbus A340-300, A330-300s, A320-200s and A319-100s – comprising one of the youngest fleets in the region.
These airplanes currently fly to 20 domestic and 26 international destinations from two main hubs: Manila and Cebu (in central Philippines). They also carry an average of 12,000 passengers and 180 tons of cargo daily on domestic routes, and 10,000 passengers and 170 tons of cargo daily on international sectors. During fiscal year 2009-2010, PAL carried nearly 10 million passengers.
PAL is the only Philippine carrier whose operations are certified safe by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) after passing twice the rigid IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
PAL is also the only airline offering Business Class service in all its domestic flights.
Frequent service enhancements – both inflight and on ground – has entrenched the PAL brand of warm and personalized Filipino hospitality, making PAL truly a national icon.
